Six guys, six completely different heads of hair. None of them use the same product.

Most guys pick a hair product off a shelf and hope. Nobody's ever actually looked at their hair and told them what it needs. That's the whole reason this exists.

Four questions, about sixty seconds. At the end you get the one Samson's product built for your hair, plus 15% off your first order. It's the same set of questions Adam would ask you if you sat down in his chair before he handed you a jar.

No spam. Your match and your code land in your inbox.

What we ask you

The question What it decides
1 What your hair is like Thick and coarse, fine or flat, curly and you want the curl defined, waves or edges or tight coils, or somewhere in the middle. This sets the hold and the weight.
2 What your current product gets wrong Quits by lunch, dries you out, too greasy, won't wash out, or nothing gives you any body. This is the part that actually changes the answer.
3 How you wear it Hat for work, styled and matte, slicked and defined, or natural texture. Your look sets the finish.
4 How often you wash it Every day, a few times a week, or about once a week. This dials in the routine we send you.
One thing worth saying. We'd rather ask you four questions than sell you the wrong jar. If the quiz points you at something cheaper than what you came here for, that's the answer, and we're fine with it.

Why a quiz instead of a bestseller list

A bestseller list tells you what sold the most. It doesn't tell you anything about your head. We've put product on a few thousand heads since 2016, and the honest truth is that most "this didn't work for me" moments are really "wrong product for that hair" moments.

Everything we make is handmade in small batches in Kalamazoo, Michigan by the two of us. Naturally-derived key ingredients, Dead Sea minerals and Black Hawaiian Sea Salt, and it all washes out with water. No double shampoo, no waxy film still there on day three.

What you can match with

Four questions. About sixty seconds.

How long does the quiz take?

About sixty seconds. It's four questions and then an email field so we can send your match and your discount code.

Do I have to give you my email?

Yes. That's how we send you your match and your 15% off code so you still have both later. One email, and you can unsubscribe anytime.

How do I use the 15% off code?

Your code shows up on screen as soon as you finish, and it lands in your inbox too. Enter it at checkout, or use the button on your result page and it gets applied for you.

What if I don't think my match is right?

Reply to the email. Jake or Adam will answer you directly. Not a bot, an actual barber. If we think something else in the line fits you better, we'll tell you.

Will your products work on curly or textured hair?

Yes, and there are two different answers depending on what you want. If you have curls and you want them defined and moisturized, the quiz matches you to Foster the Curl Crème. If you are working with waves, edges, or tight coils, it matches you to Foster the Hair, which is a gel, a wave cream, and a braiding gel in one. Both wash out with water.

Do your products wash out?

Yes, with water. Our styling products are water-based, so one normal shower takes them out. There's no double shampoo and no residue sitting on your scalp overnight.

Are your products vegan?

No. Our styling products contain beeswax, so they aren't vegan. They are made with naturally-derived key ingredients including Dead Sea minerals, Black Hawaiian Sea Salt, beeswax, and apricot kernel oil, and the full ingredient list is printed on every jar and published on each product page.
