What it is. "For us, Foster the Hair is a gel, a wave cream, and a braiding gel. So it kind of does all of them." Three products in one jar. A gel that's white, with a natural finish and no flaking, made by hand in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Who it's for. "Anybody that has textured hair. If you want waves, if you need your edges done, that's what this product is designed for. If you got tight coily hair, this is the spot for you."

How to use it. Hair is dry. Take a scoop, do your sides, fine-tooth comb. Then a couple scoops on top and style it with a brush or a wide-tooth comb. It sets fast, so work quickly. Before the wrap, use a little more, because some of it comes off when you touch it. In the morning, spray it down with water and diffuse it in. Adding more doesn't hurt.

How it feels. Substantial. You will feel it, and you'll feel your hair not moving. The finish is natural, with more shine than our matte products. That's on purpose; it's part of what the wave and edge look wants. The hold survives to morning.
