Samson's Matte Styling Cream for Effortless, Textured Hairstyles

What it is. The easiest way to describe it is hair gel without the crunch or the shine. Matte Styling Cream is a water-based styling cream with a very matte finish, made by hand in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Jake created it during the COVID lockdowns, and it put Samson's on the map.

Who it's for. If you want a textured, styled look on shorter hair, a French crop, I would suggest the Matte Styling Cream. You're just like the guy who works in business or sales, customer facing, and wants a short, neat look. Or the guy who wants the center part flow look, a little longer and looser. It isn't the jar for a tight, high volume pump. And if you want to look more natural and more matte than the Clay Pomade gives you, this is the one.

How to use it. Start with dry hair. For the short, neat look, take one or two scoops and work it through with a brush or a comb. For the flow, take two pea-sized scoops, apply it while your hair is still a little damp, then blow dry it back with a brush to get the style you want. It also works as a base layer. Put a couple of dime-sized scoops on damp hair, blow dry it in, then go over it with the Dead Sea Clay or the Clay Pomade for more hold. You'll get about a month out of it at five to seven days a week.

How it feels. It feels like it's in your hair. You'll notice it, but it won't be crunchy. The finish is very matte and looks like your hair, just better. Real light and not hard.

What makes it different. When we released it, the feedback we got was that it was so light. People were always astounded by how much punch it packed. Texture without the helmet: no crunch, no shine. Made by hand in small batches, and it washes out with water.

Why guys hesitate. They think a cream won't be enough, that it might just be a pre-styler. This cream is buck wild, it works. And if you've sworn off gel because you don't like having a helmet all day, this is exactly who we made it for.
