What it is. Matte Styling Cream and Volumizing Matte Powder, together. The cream is the base: hair gel without the crunch or the shine. The powder goes on last, at the roots, for more texture and more volume. Both made by hand in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Who it's for. If your hair is fine and it goes flat by the afternoon, and you want a textured, styled look that still looks like your hair, I would suggest the pair. You're just like the guy who wants a short, neat look, or the center part flow, with lift at the roots. Adam's word for the two together is great to cocktail.

How to use it. Cream first. For the short, neat look, take one or two scoops on dry hair and work it through with a brush or a comb. For the flow, take two pea-sized scoops, apply it while your hair is still a little damp, then blow dry it back with a brush. Once your hair is dry, the powder goes on last. Flip the bottle upside down, aim at the roots, and squeeze. Two puffs, maybe three. Then tousle your hair to spread it evenly. Go light.

How it feels. Real light and not hard. The cream feels like it's in your hair, but it won't be crunchy, and the powder feels like you have nothing in it. Very matte. It looks like your hair, just better.

What makes it different. The cream packs a lot of punch for how light it is: texture without the helmet. The powder is super dry, because anything wet makes hair clump. It has the same micro silicas they use in concrete, which build it up for volume, and we didn't put any water in it, so there's no wasted weight. Both made by hand in small batches.

Why guys hesitate. Some guys think a cream won't be enough, and some wonder if a powder can be strong enough. The cream works. The powder is structure and lift, not hold, which is why the two go together. And if you can clearly see white powder sitting on your hair, you used too much. Go light, aim at the roots.
